Single-Vineyard Releases From Kinhaven Winery

June 26, 2024

Kinhaven is a family winery with broad visions based in Walla Walla. Managers and partners Kasey and Cameron Davenport are talented go-getters that take charge of the day-to-day operations, including overseeing the winery, vineyards, wedding venue and hospitality experiences. They also operate a satellite tasting room in Woodinville that opened in June of 2024. Although still a young winery, the team excels at bringing years of experience together that constantly delights and entertains visitors with a tour de force of wine and hospitality that delivers satisfaction. Their latest releases are classy, food-friendly, and flowing with charm and character.

Below are two releases we recently reviewed:

Kinhaven 2022 Dwelley Vineyard Carménère
93 pts.
Generous aromatics open with enticing roasted capsicum pepper, peppercorn and cedar plank. This Walla Walla Valley red is smoothly structured, offering a beam of tart raspberry-cranberry inlaid with umami details of mulberry, pink peppercorn and violet that find their stride on the vibrant finish. There’s an underlying elegance that showcases the prowess of this Washington-grown varietal as a sought-after and elevated food-friendly wine. $65

Kinhaven 2023 Dwelley Vineyard Rosé
92 pts.
Made using free-run juice of single-vineyard Cabernet Sauvignon grown in the Walla Walla Valley. Aromas of red berries, ripe grapefruit and rose petal lead to restrained guava flavors on the well-structured body. A rich-like rounded mouthfeel is entwined by an uplift of lime-infused acidity and stony minerality that adds distinct spice notes to the dimensional finish. $30
