Pondera Winery 2010 SVS Number One, $45

June 30, 2015

Pondera-2010-SVS-Number-OnePondera is a boutique winery in Woodinville’s Warehouse Winery District.  Owner Dan Howard is often found pouring wines in the tasting room and his talented son Shane excels in the cellar duties where he crafts small lots of premium award-winning Bordeaux style blends and varietals.

The 2010 SVS Number One is a ‘single vineyard series,’ a rich, sumptuous blend sourced from Conner-Lee Vineyard. Cabernet Sauvignon (70%), Cabernet Franc (18%), Merlot (10%) and Malbec (2%).

Nose: Coaxing aromatics of red and black fruit, cigar box and mulberry.

Taste: Deft, polished and tightly structured with a laser beam of dark plum, cherry, dried currant, juniper, caramel and lavender and herb sachet on a lengthy finish.

Recommended pairing: Grilled flank steak with blue cheese gravy sauce or roasted duck.
