New Releases from Alluvium Cellars

December 27, 2024

This boutique winery specializes in premium small-lot wines thoughtfully crafted by Tyson and Brittany Trautmann. Founded in 2019, Alluvium wines can be found at the tasting room located at The Junction, a modest strip mall of warehouse-style wineries located on 144th Avenue NE in Woodinville, part of the larger warehouse winery district in town that for years has served as an incubator for notable and emerging wine producers. Alluvium is quickly proving to be one of the area’s rising stars. Learn more about this producer at alluvium cellars.com.

Below are six releases we recently reviewed:

Alluvium 2022 Arcane
94 pts.
Plush and concentrated, streaked with a sheen of gorgeous acidity and well-supported structure. Blackberry coulis, black cherry and pomegranate mingle with plump blueberry and black currant notes, finishing with powdery tannins. Only 100 cases produced. The fruit was sourced from Rosebud Vineyard in the Wahluke Slop and Railroad Vineyard in the Red Mountain AVA. 100 cases produced. $56
Cabernet Franc, Merlot

Alluvium 2022 Apex
94 pts.
The hallmark of this rich and silky red is the impeccable structure, marked by underlying power and a cloak of fine-grained tannins. Tightly coiled, with high-toned flavors of blackberry preserves and vivid cherry, nuanced with winning details of cranberry, violet and juniper berry that transition seamlessly on the prolonged finish. The 150 cases produced. $68
Cabernet Sauvignon, Merlot, Cabernet Franc

Alluvium 2022 Alpha
93 pts.
Balanced and vibrant, steeped blue and black berries intertwine with red stone fruit in this succulent Bordeaux varietal red. Delicate underpinnings of crushed rock, tobacco and loam are adjoined with powder-fine tannins that reverberate with superb length on the finish. 200 cases produced. $52
Cabernet Sauvignon, Merlot, Cabernet Franc, Petit Verdot

Alluvium 2022 Allegory
93 pts.
Lustrous and smooth on the entry, this Mourvedre-dominant wine glides with dynamic verve, evoking jammy blackberry, cherry and plum highlighted with intriguing accents of white pepper, cocoa and mineral accents. The Mourvedre grapes were grown at Coyote Canyon Vineyard in the Horse Heaven Hills and blended with a splash of Merlot (8%) and Cabernet Franc (6%). 100 cases produced. $60

Alluvium 2023 Apricity
92 pts.
This Rhone-style white wine is a complex and balanced blend of Viognier, Roussanne and Marsanne sourced from Coyote Canyon Vineyard in the Horse Heaven Hills. Perfumed scents of orange blossom, honeysuckle, lychee, pear and honeydew carry onto the rich and full-flavored palate. A distinctive thread of stony minerality wraps around fruit-forward details of tangerine peel, golden apple and hints of grapefruit that surface on the savory finish. 150 cases produced. $32

Alluvium 2023 Amar
92 pts.
This Rosé of Cabernet France was sourced from Railroad Vineyard in the Red Mountain AVA. Full bodied, bold and fruit forward, crafted with an ultra-smooth mouthfeel brimming with fresh-picked strawberry, raspberry compote and honeydew melon rind. Dried spice notes and a hint of lemon citrus settle over the finish. 100 cases produced. $32
