Forsyth Brio 2007 McKinley Springs Horse Heaven Hills, $50

June 10, 2015

Forsyth-Brio-2007-McKinley-Springs-Horse-Heaven-Hills-Three decades of winemaking experience is showcased in David Forsyth’s single-vineyard wines.  Only two to three barrels of each wine are made annually and are available only through the Forsyth Family Vineyards wine club and a few select wine shops.  Prior, Forsyth worked for many years at Hogue Cellars and Mercer Estates.  This Cabernet Sauvignon was held back for release to continue barrel aging for a number of years, and is already a serious contender among Horse Heaven Hills library-vintage Cabernet Sauvignon’s.

Nose: Brambly aromas of red and dark fruit, exotic spice, saddle leather, clay earth.

Taste: Silky yet powerfully structured, with a tight focus of dried blackberry, cherry skin, black currant, coffee bean, cocoa, loamy earth. A crescendo of finely-chalked tannins gains momentum on the long vibrant finish.

Editor’s Choice – Outstanding

Production: 51 cases

Alcohol: 14.7%
