6 New Releases From Eye of the Needle Winery

March 4, 2019

Bob and Lauren Bullock, owners of Eye of the Needle Winery, celebrate the winery’s tenth anniversary with a new lineup of red, white and Rosé wines. Washington Tasting Room magazine has written before about their diverse range of small-lot wines that underscore the Bullock’s singular talent for scouting and delivering top quality wines sourced from some of the region’s best vineyards. If you haven’t yet been to the tasting room in Woodinville, this latest round of new and soon-to-be-released wines are reason enough to give them a try. You’ll find boutique wines to fit just about any budget here, ranging from solid best-buys to premium world-class wines. The casual, fun tasting room is open every weekend in Woodinville’s Winery Warehouse District.

New & Upcoming Releases

Eye of the Needle 10th Anniversary Red Wine, $70
Editor’s Choice – Extraordinary (95-100 pts.)
Powerful and muscular, this red is a masterful combination of exotic Italian varietals blended with France’s noble grape varietals. Reminiscent of a Michelango sculpture, with monolithic structure and well-honed tannins embedded with earth and iron notes. The plush, silky mouthfeel delves into deeply concentrated black and red fruit flavors of cassis and black cherry, with submerged floral details of violet, anise, rose petal and tobacco that gather on the extended finish. One of the most impressive offerings to date from this winery.

Eye of the Needle Bellissimo Diavolo Walla Walla Valley, $50
Editor’s Choice – Extraordinary (95-100 pts.)
Elegant and finely sculpted, with uplifting structure and a notable mouthfeel that is plushly-aerated, delivering a seductive core of black cherry, cassis and licorice root with refined layers of dried strawberry, boysenberry and rose petal. The complex flavors gather on the long finish, boosted by a muscular edge of fine tannins. Devilishly beautiful might be an understatement.

Eye of the Needle 2016 Malbec Reserve, $35
Editor’s Choice – Outstanding (91-94 pts.)
Malbec has become one of Washington’s darling grape varieties and this premium release is a first-rate example. Sleek and polished, with floral blackberry, violet and black stone fruit flavors augmented with rosemary and sweet tobacco spice. There’s a lively underlay that reveals a savory personality buoyed by a matrix of dense tannins on the persistent finish.

Eye of the Needle 2018 Chenin Blanc, $20
Editor’s Choice – Excellent (90 pts.)
Appealing aromas of lemon drop, minerality and a fragrant scent of honeysuckle introduce the fresh, clean profile shimmering with racy lemon citrus, green apple and limestone. The flavors retain their refreshing vibrancy on the seamless finish. A heavenly match with dishes like lemon chicken, or pair with your favorite shellfish.

Eye of the Needle Moments Rosé, $18
Editor’s Choice – Outstanding (91-94 pts.)
A delicate pink hue, this elegantly balanced version offers satisfying flavors of cherry, red berries and peach, with an intriguing flash of orange peel backed by notes of crushed rock on the creamy finish. An absolute delight, this refreshing Rosé is a perfect-for-any-occasion wine that’s easy to fall in love over.

12th Blend 2018 Red Mountain Rosé, $15
Editor’s Choice – Excellent (90 pts.)
This enticing version is crafted from Cabernet Sauvignon grown in the renowned Red Mountain appellation. Creamy and sleek, with expansive fruit-forward flavors of strawberry, crushed cherry, spice and snappy citrus notes. This easy sipper is also a versatile food-pairing companion that is sure to win fans at any tailgate party or backyard barbecue!
