4 Releases from Warr-King Wines

April 5, 2022

This Woodinville winery continues to churn out small-lot red and white wines with amazing alacrity. Concentrating on fruit culled from both the Royal Slope and the Wahluke Slope AVAs in eastern Washington, the winery is in the heart of Woodinville’s warehouse winery district. Visitors will find a full lineup of current releases, and a few library wines to boot. Located at 19501 144th Ave NE, Ste D-700, Woodinville. Learn more online at www.warr-kingwines.com.

Below are four new releases we recently reviewed:

Warr-King Wines 2019 Wahluke Slope Queen of Hearts
94 pts.
A single barrel was made of this dazzling red, with immense structure displaying blackberry and black cherry flavors infused with expressive notes of crushed rock, clay, iron, forest floor and cocoa. Firm, gripping tannins expand on the powerful, well-honed finish filled with mineral and spice notes. Only 26 cases produced of this Artist Series red wine.

Warr-King Wines 2019 Stillwater Creek Vineyards Cabernet Franc
93 pts.
Exuberant minerality and vivid acidity accentuate waves of blackberry, red currant and dried strawberry expressions inlaid with willowy tannins. Ends on a rich and juicy note, teaming with savory details of loam, baker’s chocolate, thyme and sage leaf hints on the prolonged aftertaste. Shows admirable focus and length. 71 cases produced. $45

Warr-King Wines 2019 Carménère
93 pts.
This single varietal is known for its tell-tale aromas of dark berry and jalapeno and this lovely version brings it all together in elegant style. Richly tailored, with a center of jammy black raspberry and edges of flinty minerality, amplified by peppercorn melange, capsicum pepper and connotations of cacao nib that surface on the polished and complex finish. 48 cases produced.

Warr-King Wines 2021 Pinot Gris Wahluke Slope AVA
92 pts.
Floral, crisp and fruity, this white wine made with grapes harvested at Rosebud Vineyard offers a creamy mouthfeel, leading with floral aromas of honeysuckle blossom and bursting with fresh, citrus-driven layers of honeydew melon, apricot, quince and mandarin orange notes.
