3 Releases from Prohibition Cellars

January 9, 2022

Sandor and Sabrina Faludi put their heart and soul into every release at this fashionable winery in Woodinville’s warehouse district that opened in December of 2019. Winemaking runs deep in Sandor’s bloodline—his grandfather was a winemaker with a small vineyard in Hungary where Sandor grew up. These latest releases from Prohibition Cellars continue to impress.

Visit & Taste: The winery and tasting room are located in the Woodinville Warehouse District at 19501 144th Ave NE, Suite F-900, Woodinville. Phone (818) 431-0074 or visit online at www.prohibitioncellars.com.

Below are three releases we recently reviewed:

Prohibition Cellars 2019 Hatchet Cabernet Sauvignon
94 pts.
This single-vineyard version from Stillwater Creek Vineyard is monolithic and cellar worthy, exuding stone, clay and mineral elements that merge with pure refinements of cocoa powder, blackberry, dried raspberry, currants and tobacco leaf. The firm structure is powerful with integrated tannins that add immense length to the complex, earth-infused finish. $65
Only 53 cases produced

Prohibition Cellars 2019 Cabernet Franc
93 pts.
Sourced from Les Collines Vineyard in the Walla Walla Valley AVA, this is a beguiling expression of one of Washington’s iconic grape varietals. Full bodied, exuding aromas of black cherry, and white pepper. Bold and concentrated on the palate, streaked with raspberry-infused ganache, crushed rock, graphite and dried thyme. Maintains power and energy through the finish, picking up a mineral spine along the way. $75
Only 54 cases produced

Prohibition Cellars 2020 Chardonnay Reserve
92 pts.
Fermented in a combination of stainless steel tank and Hungarian oak barrels, this silky, almost creamy white is stepped up with a splash of Viognier, beginning with exotic floral aromatics of jasmine, honeysuckle and lemon crème fraiche. Rich, yet backed by a vibrant structure, the palate is loaded with tropical flavors of pineapple, apple and golden kiwi beautifully layered with blanched almond, orange zest and hints of spice on the long finish. $42
Only 77 cases produced
