World Trade Center Seattle Presents Washington State AVA Wine Tasting Series

October 24, 2014

Terroir is an esoteric, if not somewhat elusive term that is used to describe the characteristic taste and flavor imparted to wines produced from the same grape growing region. But have you ever wondered what terroir actually smells or tastes like? Or specific common traits it can impart to various wines from one vintage to the next?

Seattle’s World Trade Center now offers an ideal metropolitan setting to spend an evening tasting wines side-by-side that were produced from the same singular region and share similar terroir characteristics. In the past, these Washington State AVA Wine Tasting Series have been attended exclusively by World Trade Center members and their guests, however beginning this November they will be open to the general public.

On Monday, November 10, 2014 from 4:30-6:30pm, the Washington State AVA Wine Tasting Series will feature wines from the Horse Heaven Hills appellation, a magnificent and fertile growing region comprised of thirty vineyards and more than 12,000 acres of grapes. This sun-drenched region is protected by constant breezes off the Columbia River and known for producing wines of distinction, power and elegance.

Learn about the Horse Heaven Hills AVA from experts in a short program, while tasting wines from McKinley Springs, Coyote Canyon, Alexandria Nicole Cellars, Mercer Estates, Precept’s Alder Ridge Vineyard, Columbia Crest, Ste. Michelle Wine Estates, Martinez & Martinez and others. There will light appetizers and raffle prizes as well. Sommelier Yashar Shayan, proprietor of Impulse Wine will have a booth where guests may purchase bottles of their favorites.

Tickets to attend this wine tasting event are available at Brown Paper Tickets here at a cost of $25 for the general public. For more information about this event, contact the WTCSE Concierge at concierge@wtcseattle.com or phone (206) 441-5144.

For those seeking overnight accommodations, the Seattle Marriott Waterfront hotel has extended a special preferred rate for guest rooms to all wine tasting attendees. (Contact jennifer.stiles@marriott.com to make a special room reservation.)
