Wine Rocks Set to Rock Seattle’s Elliott Hall in July

June 10, 2012

Washington Tasting Room magazine is a sponsor of Wine Rocks Seattle, back for a fifth year and it’s bigger than ever.  This year’s event takes place Wednesday, July 11, from 6-10pm at Elliott Hall at Pier 66 overlooking Puget Sound.  More than 30 Washington wineries, as well as several breweries and local distilleries will be pouring at the event.  To pair with the wines, a handful of local food trucks will serve food.

The event began in 2008 as a publicity event to help Gibson Guitars promote their showroom in Seattle.  Event founder Jen Doak had the bright idea to bring in a few winemakers who also loved strumming their guitars.  The concept was a huge hit and Wine Rocks has since become an annual gathering for wine and rock’n roll lovers.

Throughout the evening select Washington winemakers and friends will take the stage to share their passion for music. This year’s featured bands include:

•  The Raven & The Fox – Chip McLaughlin (Vinyl Wines) and Mari Gisele
•  Turbo Grape Mashers – Gordy Rawson (Chatter Creek Cellars)
•  Shelly & the Curves
•  Soul Jelly
•  The Wicker Rhinos – Wine writer Paul Gregutt and sommelier Larry Davidson

“As the wine industry continues to flourish, Wine Rocks provides wineries a relaxed, fun and non-traditional opportunity at connecting with their consumers and creating new relationships,” said Doak.  A portion of this year’s proceeds will go to The Giving Grapes Foundation, a non-profit organization that assists local charities who provide financial assistance to service industry professionals who have to take time off work due to injury or illness.
