Tinte Cellars Hosts Fundraiser for Yakima Valley Farm Workers Clinic

March 15, 2023

As Washington Wine Month gets underway this March, family-owned winery collective, Tinte Cellars, is further focusing on the families of the farmworkers who bring the grapes to our glasses.

The award-winning philanthropic winery is hosting a Diaper Drive throughout March at all Tinte Cellars’ locations and will be collecting donations online for the Yakima Valley Farm Workers Clinic (YVFWC), one of the Pacific Northwest’s largest community health centers, providing medical, dental, behavioral health, and social services to more than 180,000 people a year, and more than half of them are children.

“Farmworkers are the backbone of our industry,” said Teresa Spellman Gamble, who co-owns Tinte Cellars with her husband, Tim Gamble. “Our annual diaper drive is another way to support the families of those who work tirelessly to put food and drink on our tables and help make Washington wines exceptional.”

In addition to collecting diapers and baby wipes, Tinte is also accepting in-person cash donations: $45. buys one case of diapers, and $25. pays for one case of baby wipes.

To donate in-person: Donations can be brought to any Tinte Cellars locations through April 1, 2023.

Throughout the donation drive, Tinte is showcasing the art of Consuelo Soto Murphy at its Georgetown location. Consuelo Soto Murphy grew up as a child migrant worker in the Yakima Valley with her eight siblings. Her art is inspired by positive memories of the beautiful landscapes, the flourishing crops, and the love and relationships forged with her family and friends. Currently, Consuelo’s work is being showcased in the Washington State Governor’s Mansion where she is Artist of the Year.

“Tim and I were recently representing my parents and family at an anniversary celebration for the Governor’s Mansion Foundation,” said Spellman Gamble, whose father, John D. Spellman, was Washington’s 18th governor. “We were enamored with Conseulo’s vibrant work and, in particular, the painting of farmworkers picking grapes which we ultimately acquired as I fell in love with it. I began chatting with Consuelo and learned that her married name is Murphy, and my mother was a Murphy. We kept making more and more connections as we chatted. When she told me how some of her work is hanging in the Yakima Valley Farm Workers Clinics, I knew she’d be the perfect artist to highlight at Tinte Georgetown during our first quarter focus with the Yakima Valley Farm Workers Clinic and our annual diaper drive.”

10% of all Soto Art sold while on display at Tinte will be donated to the YVFWC

Supporting Yakima Valley Farm Workers Clinic Year-Round

Tinte donates money year-round from each glass of wine poured and each bottle sold to the Yakima Valley Farmer Workers Clinic as part of its charitable commitment to the community.

5% of all Tinte retail sales and 10% of all wine club sales are split equally between four area non-profits each year.

In 2023, in addition to YVFWC, the charities are Mary’s Place, Northwest Harvest, and Seattle Children’s Behavioral Health Crisis Care Clinic. Tinte also invests in a wide range of additional programs and activities to enable their customers, employees, and partners to amplify their own positive impact on the world.
