The Stowaway Unveils First Beachfront Wine Bar on the Washington Coast

May 2, 2022

Seabrook’s Stowaway Wine Bar on the Washington coast boasts a 4,600-bottle cellar with over 500 labels

Seabrook, WA — This vibrant Washington coastal beach town has bragging rights to the state’s first beachfront wine bar. The Stowaway Wine Bar has opened in a new, expanded location, featuring a 4,600 bottle cellar and beautiful views of the Pacific Ocean. The 1900-square-foot restaurant, bar, and wine shop is the first of its kind on the Washington Coast.

Owned by Seabrook residents and husband and wife team Garry and Heather Montag, the wine bar and eatery boasts an expansive wine list of reds and whites from Washington, California, Spain, Argentina, Germany and beyond. In addition to its broad wine list, the bar features several sought-after Champagne and sparkling wine options alongside a menu highlighting coastal-inspired dishes with fresh, locally-sourced ingredients. The menu sports small plates like charcuterie platters, flatbreads and sandwiches.

The wine tasting experience offers opportunities to learn about the background and history of wines from wine experts, visiting winemakers, and special classes.

The Stowaway opened its first Seabrook location in 2014 and has spent years building its powerhouse selection of wines primarily from the New World West Coast, while working to expand their Champagne program and develop a solid international selection.

The Stowaway features a 26-rope chandelier and ocean views

The new space features a 30-foot-long stand-up bar, a 26-rope chandelier, indigenous plants, and an eye-catching vapor fireplace. There is seating inside for 50, with an additional 25 outdoor seats open seasonally.

“We’re thrilled to finally share the completion of this beautiful space and see our vision come to life. Our daughter, Valentina, was instrumental in making this happen,” says co-owner Garry Montag. “Our community, winemakers, vacationers, and day-trippers have been so supportive over the years, we can’t wait to offer a whole new level of wine and food selections along with a full calendar of activities.”

Events will be a regular occurrence with weekly wine tastings, live music, guest winemakers, wine classes, and even wine blending experiences that include tasting, building, and bottling your personal Bordeaux Blend from a selection of red wine barrels from Walla Walla Valley AVAs.

Bottle prices range from a great tasting Flight for $20, up to $800 for a Jacques Selosse Millesime 2008 vintage Champagne. The Stowaway also offers in-home wine-tasting experiences for vacationers and homeowners at Seabrook.

The Stowaway is located in the Seabrook town center at 203 Market Street, Pacific Beach, WA, open Sunday – Thursday from noon to 8:00pm, and Saturday and Sunday from noon to 9:00pm. For more information, visit https://www.thestowawaywinebarseabrookwa.com.
