Scholarships Available From the Washington Wine Industry Foundation

March 26, 2013

The Washington Wine Industry Foundation will offer three sets of scholarships for students interested in viticulture or enology for the 2013-2014 academic year. All scholarship applications must be postmarked by June 1, 2013 and are available to high school seniors or graduates and college students currently enrolled or planning to enroll in a college or university viticulture and/or enology program.  Over $18,000 in scholarship awards were distributed by the Washington Wine Industry Foundation for the academic year 2012-2013.

Horse Heaven Hills Wine Growers Scholarship
This $1,500 scholarship was established for students who are residents of Benton, Yakima or Klickitat counties.  The scholarship was created by industry members dedicated to promoting education of grape growing and wine production.

Walter J. Clore Scholarship
Established in 1997 by the Washington Association of Wine Grape Growers, scholarships range from $500 to $2,000 in honor of Dr. Clore’s grape research and lifetime achievements in the field of viticulture and enology.

S.W. (Bill) Preston Scholarship
Established by Preston Premium Wines and Preston Vineyard, this $3,000 scholarship is awarded to a student studying in Washington.  Bill Preston was a visionary in the wine industry and was repeatedly recognized for his achievements, including being the first recipient of the Lifetime Achievement Award from the Wine Grape Growers Association and the first inductee to the Legends of Washington Hall of Fame.

How to Apply
All scholarship applications are available online at: www.washingtonwinefoundation.org and must be postmarked no later than June 1, 2013.
