L’Ecole № 41 Appoints Matthew Carroll as National Sales Manager – Northeast

November 4, 2024

Matthew Carrol joins L’Ecole No 41 as National Sales Manager for 21 Northeast markets

Walla Walla, WA — L’Ecole № 41, one of the founding wineries of Washington’s Walla Walla Valley has appointed Matthew Carroll as National Sales Manager – Northeast.

In this new role, Carroll will be responsible for sales in 21 markets: Connecticut, Delaware, Illinois, Indiana, Kentucky, Maine, Maryland, Massachusetts, Michigan, Minnesota, New Hampshire, New Jersey,  New York, Ohio, Pennsylvania, Rhode Island, Vermont, Virginia, Washington, DC, West Virginia, and Wisconsin.

Carroll will report directly to Ryan Pennington, Chief Operating Officer for L’Ecole № 41.

“Matthew is an incredibly talented and accomplished wine professional, and we are thrilled to add him to our growing team,” said Pennington. “Matthew shares our passion for Walla Walla Valley and Washington State wines, and we are delighted to have him join us in promoting not only L’Ecole № 41 but the entire Washington wine community, as well.”

“From my earliest days in the industry and preparing for exams, L’Ecole № 41 has always been my standard of excellence for Washington wines,” said Carroll. “I’m thrilled to be part of this fantastic team, and I look forward to advocating for L’Ecole and the entire region on the ‘right coast’.”

Carroll joins Matt Rice, National Sales Manager – Midwest & Southeast; and Annie Wallace Cox, National Sales Manager – West, in filling out the L’Ecole № 41 national sales team.

Prior to joining L’Ecole № 41, Carroll spent more than three years with Skurnik Wines & Spirits, where he managed sales across nine states in the Mid-Atlantic and New England. Prior to that, he spent nearly seven years with European Cellars and Eric Solomon Selections, where he had escalating responsibilities across several sales and portfolio management roles.

Carroll began his wine career in the fine dining and hospitality trade, first as Sommelier and Cellarmaster at The Inn at Little Washington, a Michelin-starred property in suburban Virginia; and then as Beverage Director at the Lorien Hotel & Spa, a Kimpton Hotels property in Old Town Alexandria, Virginia.

Carroll holds the Advanced Sommelier certification from the Court of Master Sommeliers, Americas; and the Certified Specialist of Wine certification from the Society of Wine Educators.

Carroll will be based from his home in suburban Baltimore, Maryland.
