Anthony’s Restaurants Awarded ‘Best Event Featuring Washington Wine’ By WA Wine Commission

Seattle, WA — (January 28, 2014) — Anthony’s Restaurants proudly announces that they have has been awarded The Best Event Featuring Washington Wine for the Raise a Glass Fund a Scholarship Promotion at the 2014 Washington State Wine Awards, a recognition program of the Washington Wine Commission.

Anthony’s Restaurants has always been dedicated to fresh, local flavor in the food as well as the wine lists. The wine lists have always kept its local, Washington focus while rotating its selection to pair with seasonal ingredients. Anthony’s also continues to maintain a close relationship with the Washington wine community to help educate and raise awareness of Washington wine to all of its guests.

“Education has always been a part of Anthony’s philosophy, as well as giving back to the community,” said Lane Hoss, Vice President of Marketing and Beverage Director. “We are so pleased to be recognized for our ongoing community involvement with our Raise a Glass, Fund a Scholarship promotion to put towards the Viticulture and Enology Program at Washington State University. It is an honor to be recognized by the Washington wine industry.”

General Manager Bob Nelson of Pier 66, who accepted the award on behalf of Anthony’s, helps to maintain this philosophy by providing continuous wine education classes for his staff. All team members are provided with initial wine training, table service etiquette and proper food pairing education.

Since the inception of the Washington State Wine Awards (formerly the Washington Restaurant Awards), Anthony’s has proudly been awarded the most in restaurant recognition including the Walter Clore Honorarium for both founder Budd Gould in 2012 and Lane Hoss in 2003. They have also been awarded Restaurant of the Year in 2004, Best Event Featuring Washington Wine in 2003, 2006, 2008 and 2014, the Winemaker Choice Award in 2007, Best Restaurant Group in 2011 and Grand Awards for every year since its inception in 2003.
