Add To Your Wine Credentials With A Wine Certification Course, April 6-7

March 4, 2013

Grandview, WA—If you are a wine professional wanting to further your knowledge and career or a serious wine enthusiast seeking a structured and comprehensive way to learn about wine, you may be ready to add to your credentials with a prominent wine certification course.

The Wine & Spirit Education Trust (WSET) is offering a Level 2 Wine Certificate Course that will be held Yakima Valley Community College’s Grandview Campus (www.yvcc.edu/wine) on Saturday, April 6 and Sunday, April 7 from 9am to 6pm, with the one-hour certification exam scheduled for Wednesday, April 17 at 6pm.  Students will study the major wine regions and wine styles of the world through outside reading and assignments, in-class lectures and discussions, and professional evaluation of over 40 wines using the WSET’s Systematic Approach to Tasting.  The cost of the course, including all course materials, exam and certificate fees, is $685.

The course is taught by The Wine & Spirit Archive, an Oregon- and Washington-based wine school and WSET provider. “Now in our seventh year of offering WSET Courses in the Pacific Northwest, we are excited to bring the program—for the second time—to Eastern Washington, the heart and soul of Washington winemaking,” says Mimi Martin, director at The Wine & Spirit Archive.

The WSET is the world’s most recognized and most respected wine certification program.  Last year, over 36,000 students in over 50 countries completed WSET courses.  WSET certifications are increasingly recognized as essential credentials for those working in the global wine industry, with graduates working in wine-related industries such as winemaking, marketing, retail sales, restaurants, importing, distribution, writing and education.

Yakima Valley Community College has an award winning teaching winery and teaching vineyard, complete with a tasting room, located on the Grandview Campus called Yakima Valley Vintners.

For more information on this course and other certificate programs, visit The Wine & Spirit Education Trust or phone 503-764-7698.
