Urban Enoteca Brings A Masterful Blend Of Seven Wineries and Paired Foods to Seattle
Posted: January 10, 2011
Wine lovers in the Seattle metropolitan area have good reason to be smiling these days as a stream of new artisan winery tasting rooms continues to pop up in and around urban neighborhoods, many of whom originate from the agriculturally-rich eastern side of the state where the vast majority of wine grapes are grown. The city’s newest such wine tasting venue is Urban Enoteca, which opened to the public last month (December 2010) in Seattle’s SoDo District.
It features a unique Tasting Center comprised of seven Tasting Bars, each one showcasing wines from a different winery. The participating wineries are Kiona Vineyards & Winery (Red Mountain), Five Star Cellars (Walla Walla Valley), Cave B Estate Winery (Columbia Gorge), Côte Bonneville (Yakima Valley), Fielding Hills Winery (Wahluke Slope), Fidelitas (Red Mountain), and McCrea Cellars (Seattle).
Barely a month old, Urban Enoteca today announced the appointment of Christopher Opsata as Chef de Cuisine of its wine tasting venue, restaurant and private event space. As an experienced sous chef, Opsata brings an extensive background in planning and creating menus using fresh seasonal ingredients and working with large event venues.
“We are very fortunate to have the opportunity to add such a talented individual to our team,” said general manager Shari Spurgeon. “With his extensive culinary background, we feel Chris will be a strong leader in executing our vision in the kitchen.”
The food served in Urban Enoteca’s Library Lounge will pair ideally with the Washington wines being poured. The menu will offer numerous small bites and shared platters featuring locally made salumi, cheeses, flatbreads and simple prepared “one bites.” There will be an expanded selection of appetizers, salads, pastas made fresh daily and grilled or roasted seasonal fish and meat.
If you are looking for a place to host a party or catered event, the shiny new grand, yet flexible private event space at Urban Enoteca can host gatherings and celebrations of up to 300 guests.
Urban Enoteca is located at 4130 First Avenue South in Seattle and has free covered, lit parking. The tasting room hours are:
Tuesday to Thursday: 4-8pm
Friday: 4-10pm
Saturday: Noon-10pm
Sunday: Noon-7pm
